BOULDER COUNTY PHOTOGRAPHER RAISES FUNDS TO HELP CHILDREN AROUND THE WORLD

23 SEPTEMBER 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOUISVILLE, CO: Join one Boulder County photographer this Sunday, 30 September 2018, as she raises funds to change and save the lives of children around the world!

This October, Louisville CO photographer Elizabeth Williamsberg will be hosting “Family Portrait Month,” an annual, month-long fundraiser supporting Operation Smile, which treats children around the world who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities. Elizabeth Williamsberg has pledged to contribute a portion of all sales during this month to Operation Smile, with a goal of raising $480 which will fund two craniofacial surgeries for children in need.

On Sunday, 30 September 2018, Elizabeth Williamsberg will kick off the month-long fundraising drive with Mama and Me sessions, a special mini portrait session event to kickstart Family Portrait Month. On Sunday, 30 September 2018, she will be celebrating mothers of all kinds – biological, adoptive, and even pet mamas — during this special event hosted at Modern Film Studios, 1401 Walnut Street, in Downtown Boulder. All participants will receive a mini twenty-minute portrait session and two 5×7 fine art gift prints; all net proceeds from every session donated toward Operation Smile.

“Modern mothers of all kinds are the most likely to be behind the camera when family photographs are made, which means years from now, her children will not have photographs to look back upon to remember her.” says Elizabeth Williamsberg. “As a member of the Professional Photographers of America, I believe that everyone should exist in photographs, and this Sunday, my goal is to get more women to take time out for themselves, step out of their comfort zones, and step in front of the camera while helping a great cause.”

Founded in 1982, Operation Smile is a worldwide children’s medical charity dedicated to helping children and young adults born with facial deformities. In as little as 45 minutes, one cleft lip surgery can change a child’s life forever. Every three minutes a child somewhere in the world is born with a facial deformity. One in ten will not survive to see their first birthday. Those who do survive often live in isolation and pain. Each year, more than 100,000 children are born with a facial deformity in Operation Smile’s 26 partner countries including the United States. Today, tens of thousands remain untreated.

“Capturing smiles is what photographers do every day,” says Williamsberg,  “It’s hard to imagine a more appropriate charity for me to support as a photographer.”

The Mama and Me mini session kick off event will be hosted by Modern Film Studios, 1401 Walnut Street, Boulder, CO from 11am until 5pm on Sunday 30 September 2018. Family Portrait Month sessions will be held from 1 – 31 October 2018.
